Chefs and foodies alike know that ingredients can make or break a dish. As a leading importer of French specialties, we’re always on the hunt for dynamic additions to our produce portfolio. That’s why when we encountered Champiland, we knew we’d struck gourmet gold.
Though widely regarded as a premium ingredient, mushrooms can be difficult to manage. They perish quickly and a little goes a long way, so keeping mushrooms in large quantities isn’t always cost-effective. Champiland addresses this problem by offering a diverse selection of hand-dried mushrooms. Depending on your kitchen’s needs, you can stock up on whole or powdered mushrooms of your choice – conveniently stored in 1 lb. containers. When you’re ready to use them, just add broth or water and within minutes they spring to life!
So which mushrooms are right for you? Here’s a quick intro on our favorite ways to use Champiland mushrooms:
Morels have an earthy, subtly nutty flavor, and shine in elegant dishes like risotto and seasonal soup . Try them mixed in with a white wine and cream sauce for some added texture.
Shiitake mushrooms have a texture comparable to meat, making them a great substitute in lasagna, burgers, or stir fries. Try them grilled or roasted on their own with a bit of butter.
Porcini mushrooms have a creamy, slightly porous texture which holds sauce very well, making them a perfect fit for decadent breakfast dishes like omelets and eggs benedict.
Black trumpet mushrooms have a woodsy aroma, and a springy texture. Enjoy them in dumplings, miso broths, or Asian-inspired sautés.
Powdered mushroom essentially works as an incredible flavor bomb. Add a scoop (or more!) to any soup, stew, or curry for a rich umami boost.
